Looking for a fun, unique activity to do with your friends or family? A team building function with your co-workers? With one of our DIY workshops, you can host a party in your home or at your chosen venue (office, church, community center...the possibilities are endless). We handle all the prep work, setup, and cleanup. The wood is cut, sanded, and assembled prior to your party. We supply all of the tools, paint, and stain needed so each of your guests can create a custom sign. All guests will pay for and select their design ahead of time. On the day of the workshop, your guests simply show up ready to make a custom sign! We walk you through step-by-step how to stain, apply the stencil, paint, and make it your own. You and your guests will go home with a personalized sign you can hang in your home or office.
How long does a workshop last?
Workshops typically last 2-3 hours. It is important for guests to arrive on time to ensure there is enough time for paints to dry in between coats. We will need 30 minutes before and after for setup and cleanup.
How many guests can attend?
5-12 guests. We ask for a minimum of 5 people. If you have a group larger than 12, please contact us for special arrangements.
How much does it cost?
Our workshops are $45 per person. This includes all supplies and a step-by-step tutorial.
What type of payment methods do you accept?
To secure your date, please use the "Book a Workshop" link on this page. Once booked, we will send out a personalized link you can share with your guests where you and they can select a design and remit payment. We also accept payment via PayPal, Venmo, and Apple Pay if needed. Please contact us for alternate payment methods. (Please note, your workshop date and time is secured upon payment remittance.)
Where are your workshops located?
We can host workshops at your house or chosen venue anywhere in San Luis Obispo County and Northern Santa Barbara County. If you are outside of these areas, please contact us to inquire about hosting a workshop.
When can workshops be held?
Workshop availability is currently limited to weekends or weekday evenings. Please check the calendar under "Book a Workshop" for specific availability.
How do guests select their designs?
Prior to the workshop, we will send out a personalized link with design and purchasing options. We will provide guests with several design options to choose from. We ask that guests pay for and select their chosen designs at least one week prior to the date of the workshop, so that we have enough time to prepare all of the stencils and sign materials. (At this time, we are not offering personalized designs. However, if you have a special occasion and want to offer a custom design for your guests, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.)
What should guests wear?
We will provide aprons, however because guests will be working with wood stain and paints, we suggest wearing comfortable, dark colored clothing. (Please note: Palette & Pine is not responsible for any clothing items that may be stained during the sign making process.)
What about food and drink?
We encourage hosts and/or guests to bring drinks and snacks. This is a party after all! There will be plenty of time in between steps to grab refreshments or drink refills.
What do the finished signs look like?
Finished signs measure approximately 9.5" x 9.5" x 1.5" (including the frame). Stain and paint colors will be chosen at the workshop. Check out our gallery below to see what some of our finished signs have looked like.
